History
Snappet was founded by 4 fathers in 2012. Just like every other parent, they wanted what was best for their children. Education on their children’s own level was a high priority for them and they wondered how technology could be used to better adapt to the individual needs of every child. They realized education could be improved drastically using technology.
The first version of Snappet was a computer program. The first reactions were very positive, especially on the content of Snappet, but teachers were concerned about the implementation of a computers for every single student in one classroom. This resulted into the concept of a tablet for each student.
After the summer break of 2012 the first pilot was done at 15 schools. From that moment on everything evolved rapidly. First with primary schools all over the Netherlands and nowadays with over 3,000 primary schools in several countries working with Snappet on a daily basis.
What is Snappet?
Teachers and schools deserve a suitable navigational system to support them in teaching in the best direction. Snappet provides this for all teachers. With Snappet, teachers:
- Have insights and overview of real-time student data;
- Can teach every student at their own level;
- Save time in grading to free up time to help students where needed.
Snappet is personalized, adaptive and dynamic teaching. This way we’re all navigating towards reaching our main goal: improving all students’ learning outcomes.
Research
The University of Twente and the Radboud University have both conducted research on Snappet in 2015. They were conducted on over 2,500 students of grades 2 to 6. Both researches have proven the benefits of digital learning tools and adaptive educational technology for the classroom.
The impressive research results showed:
- Efficiency for students of all levels.
- Highly improved learning outcomes (up to 43% more) on Math and Spelling within half a year.
- Higher learning outcomes the more Snappet was being used in the classroom.
- Better supported teachers in their knowledge and analysis of their students and in the tailoring of their teaching.
